Penned in exile and recorded while sheltered at Goat House Studio, this is Exiled in Alicante.
Last Spring, in the early days of a new world, I was aided and abetted by friends, Chris Maxwell and Amb. Parsley, in the making of what was to be the last record on an old contract.
Instead, I stand here today blissfully dropped and still in possession of said wares.
Now you, dear reader, are cordially invited to enjoy them: one song, one picture and one story at a time, on Eye Knee Records.
For good measure, today’s release has been blessed
lyrics
It was a full moon, I was about to bleed
Exiled in Alicante
And if I wanted more, well I’d have to go wanting
The rumors were vicious
The timing unkind
And America scares me, but I know that she’s mine
But oh what a beautiful mess we’ve made for ourselves
And I would give it all away
Do you think it would help?
And there’s babies in cages, smoke in the air
And these monsters know nothing
Love ain’t fair
And I’ll tell you one secret before I must leave
Death is no ending, it’s just a reprieve
And oh what a beautiful mess we’ve made for ourselves
And I would give it all away
I can’t help
And oh say can you see by the dawns early light
That love is all we have
In the dark it gives light
In the dark there’s still light
So if by some miracle I get to grow old
I pray it’s by your side, your hand to hold
But don’t do me no favors, yeah give it to me straight
It’s too early for promises, before you know it’s too late
But oh what a beautiful mess we’ve made for ourselves
And I would give it all away, do you think it would help
